NNMHA

March 16, 2020 –

NMCTR’s Executive Director, Ashley Fischer, spoke at the Northern New Mexico Horsemen’s Association’s monthly meeting on February 26th, 2020 at the Old Pecos Café. More than 65 years ago, a group of horse lovers got together to form an association now known as Northern New Mexico Horsemen’s Association (NNMHA). The purpose of NNMHA is to promote better horse husbandry, knowledge of training and other aspects associated with any form of horsemanship. Horse men and women gathered for a wonderful dinner followed by a presentation all about the New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding.

Ashley began by introducing NMCTR, explaining the four programs within the organization, and the benefits that are associated with each program. She then continued to explain how the program is successful… the horses and volunteers. Not only did Ashley enlighten everyone on the role of a therapeutic riding horse, but she went into detail about the policies and procedures NMCTR has implemented to address equine welfare and ensure a healthy atmosphere, mentally and physically, for each horse. The volunteers received a lot of recognition as the program would not be possible without all the men and women that donate their time and energy in every aspect of the program including horse care, lesson assistance, grant writing, fundraising, and administrative tasks. She explained NMCTR’s short term goals such as relocating to a forever home and hiring another PATH Intl Certified Instructor but also explained long terms goals such as building an indoor arena. Ashley concluded with the organization’s motto that NMCTR “Changes Lives One Stride at a Time”.

Thank you NNMHA for having Ashley as the March 2020 guest speaker. If you are interested in learning more about NMCTR or would like to schedule Ashley to present at your location, please email Ashley Fischer at ashley.nmctr@gmail.com
