June 14, 2021 –

Civitan International, based in Birmingham, Alabama, is an association of community service clubs founded in 1917. The Santa Fe Civitans are dedicated to improving their communities through helping others. Locally, Civitans are involved with a great variety of service projects designed to help many residents in our community. Through fund raisers and volunteering , the Civitans provide services and products to many deserving individuals and organizations such as NMCTR.

The Santa Fe Civitans held their 7th Annual Charles A. Pacheco Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 7, 2021. Charles Pacheco and Belinda Ferrero established the golf tournament in 2014 to fund local non-profits, as well as the Civitan International Research Center. Charles was well-known for his jovial manner and loving spirit. Despite being diagnosed with cancer in January 2014, Charles continued to work tirelessly for the cause of Civitan, inspiring fun and soliciting the most golf sponsors for that year. He lost his battle with cancer in July, 2014. His wife, Bernadette and daughters Jennifer, Amanda and Charlene along with his family, friends and the Santa Fe Civitan Club are keeping his spirit among us through their personal involvement with this golf tournament in Charles’ name.

NMCTR is very grateful to be named one of the beneficiaries of the Golf Tournament. The financial gift will directly benefit the children and adults with disabilities of NMCTR.
